Joey

Here are some pictures of our newest member of the family! Jacob and I took off for Des Moines one Friday to go to the Dr. The ob Dr. went great and everything was fine. Then we went to go get blood pressure refills and my bp was 151/127. So they sent Jacob and I to Mercy hospital. Well when we arrived they admitted me and said oh you will only be here a little bit. Well they then decided I needed to stay over night. So the next morning they sent a specialist in and he said I had preclampsia until proven otherwise. So they informed I was had to be on Hospital bedrest until delivery. The due date was suppose to be Feb. 25th! Well I started having a few contractions that day. They did an ultrasound and the baby was getting stressed. So they wanted to get my BP down even farther. Well they were able to get it down for awhile but then it started going back up. So the specialist said that we had to have the baby. They started inducing me on Sunday am. They took me off foods and liquids as of Friday when I got there and said no more til baby came. Well finally on Monday morning they started me on a stronger med. By 12:20 I was having strong contractions. So at 1:@0 the Dr. came and they were trying to decide whether to do a C-section or let me have it naturally. Thankfully my Dr. figured it would go very fast as soon as he broke the water. So off we went to the operating room. We arrived in there at 1:30 and then they broke my water and Joey arrive at 1:41pm. He weighed 2 pounds 7 ounces and was 15 inches long. He was crying and breathing good when he arrived.

Joey did very well for the first few days. On Day 3 he had some set backs and was put on a ventilator. He is on the high output ventilator but seems to be doing much better. We have been driving back and forth to see him. We can't wait until we can actually hold our new little man! Jacob is looking forward to getting to meet him but that won't be until he comes home or we can hold him up to the window for him to see him.
